10 Inspiring Blogs for Creatives

by Rasmus Rasmussen on January 12, 2010

Another Passion is a young site, and I realize that you might be craving more input after you’ve scoured these pages. So here are 10 of great blogs for getting an injection of inspiration or motivation.

Some of these were sources of inspiration for Another Passion, others were discovered during my research for this blog. If you are not already regularly reading these, you should be.

  • TED Blog – Smart people talking about interesting things. Also one of the main sources of inspiration for Another Passion. This was what showed me, that there is a way to communicate across niches. Watch a couple of TED talks and you are guaranteed to get inspired.
  • Copyblogger – A personal favorite for artists and freelancers having a go at running their careers as a business. Covers marketing, content and writing but useful for all. Not surprisingly, it’s also very well written.
  • A Photo Editor – Insights, news and commentary from the world of photography, printed media and advertising. Great source for anyone in those industries; or people dealing with those industries.
  • Moleskinerie – Okay, this is a guilty pleasure. It’s on the list because I share it with thousands of other creatives. This blog is dedicated to the Moleskine cult, often showcasing inspiring uses of the journals and artwork from fans around the world.
  • Freelance Folder – Practical how-to style articles on running a freelance or one-man business. Covers things like dealing with clients, bigger agencies, self-promotion and so on.
  • Permission To Suck – In the same vein as Another Passion, this is a blog about creativity at its core. Very high quality content and a growing manifesto well worth reading. A must-follow blog.
  • Lateral Action – Lots of articles about entrepreneurism for creatives, making it a nice tie-in with the more generic freelance how-to blogs.
  • Lost At E Minor – Mulitple contributors cover a wide array of creative genres and geographic locations with news, trends and more. They cover pretty much everything from architecture to music.
  • The Storque – Etsy’s official blog showcases craft artists from the site. Even if you don’t sell or buy on Etsy, there is inspiration to be found here.
  • LifeDev – Also about creativity, the lifestyle, productivity etc. Lots of good stuff to be found in the archives too!

The weblogs above are not presented in any specific order. They are all good reads. Feel free to add a link to your favorite blog for creatives.

Would like to add one more – for visual artists:

Mostly on art marketing, but many articles on how to live more efficiently, talk to collectors, and use social media to get your work out there.
